Well as I say in most circumstances (especially this one), why fix something that isn’t broken?
The amount of sleepless nights I have usually results in me sitting in my chair watching ITV player catching up on the days television, shamefully I have to admit there’s nothing better than sitting in my chair with pizza catching up on yesterdays ‘Coronation Street’ and ‘Jeremy Kyle’, not to mention ‘Vinnie Jones’ toughest cops’.
So, I finally got an early night but ended up waking around 4.30am and again what else to do apart from catch up on the television I missed the night before. Well I would love to do that right now except ITV have decided to do a re-design of the ITV player side of the website. Maybe your asking yourself what’s wrong with that? Well nothing, except the fact that nobody can watch a single video now as none of the videos are working at all since the redesign went live. Doesn’t this just defy the whole point of that section of the website?
It could probably be taken with more lenience if ITV had fixed it by now, but instead it’s been over 24 hours since the videos haven’t worked and now I’m watching some ignorant kid on ‘Worlds Strictest Parents’ on BBC iPlayer. Enough said.

Hi there. I would like to know what the following: ZoneAlarm, and Windows Defender will do for my laptop. I already have avast! 4 Home Edition installed, and would like to enhance my laptop’s security. And that’s why I would like to know what ZoneAlarm and Windows Defender will do, what else do they cover? What parts of my laptop do they protect and so on, for instance, internet security or the laptop itself? If you know what I mean. I’d just like to know because avast! is great, they are a very good anti-virus software, I’ve been using them for around a month or two, or more, and they have been brilliant. I’m just wondering because I’ve heard that ZoneAlarm and Windows Defender are two other great softwares that can enhance and improve someone’s laptop (or even computer). I’m very happy with avast! at the moment, they are doing a great job in protecting my laptop. But I wouldn’t mind knowing what else I can do with ZoneAlarm and Windows Defender. If there are other options too, other than ZoneAlarm and Windows Defender, please do let me know, as I would look into them more. So, please, let me know what ZoneAlarm and Windows Defender’s functions are, and what role they play. Thank you. santoramaa
Hi Luffie,
On my own personal computer I simply use AVG free edition along with the firewall already integrated into the installation of Windows.
AVG can be found here – http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html?part=dl-10044820&subj=dl&tag=button&cdlPid=11014801
Everybody has their own personal preference when it comes to their setup but the one above is the one I’d always put my money on as I’ve not had any major viruses hit any of my computers, fingers crossed!

I don’t think I’m losing the monitor, it’s a fairly new laptop designed for Windows XP by Dell. I’m renting to own it and before I’m done paying it off I want to make sure nothing is wrong with it. I don’t use up a lot of space more 2/3rds of the hard drive memory is still available. No viruses ect. The laptop tends to get hot, so I have an icepack wrapped in plastic to keep it cool and protect against moisture. It’s doing a great job at keeping cool. So if anyone has any suggestions as to what it is and what I should tell the ppl at RAC, I’d like to know what. Refs preferred.

Hi Nannyw,
You asked if anybody has any suggestions as to what it is, do you mean why might your laptop be overheating without your ice pack?

Hi csodar,
I’d recommend taking a look at comment number 2 on this post. Get AVG installed and run a scan to make sure there’s nothing hanging around that can cause you bother. I almost guarantee you’ll be fine in the anti virus department after that.
